Therapy

Beechwood Complimentary Medical CentreTherapy begins with an informal preliminary assessment over one 60 minute session. This involves an exchange of information. As much detail as possible about the nature, history and impact of the problem is required. Sometimes brief questionnaires are used to facilitate this process but mostly it involves answering core questions and simply discussing the problem with the therapist. An initial explanation of what to expect in therapy is also provided during this preliminary assessment.

If the proposed therapy is agreed then sessions can normally begin the following week. The exact treatment content is shaped by both therapist and client in a collaborative process. A cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approach is frequently considered most appropriate although other treatment models are also considered. In all cases confidentiality is strictly observed. On occasions it may be considered advisable to consult GPs in addition to therapy. THIS WOULD ALWAYS BE DISCUSSED IN FULL IN ADVANCE WITH THE CLIENT AND WRITTEN CONSENT AGREED.

Therapy sessions are currently provided at the Beechwood Practice, 41 Hills Rd. Cambridge-(see link). Within easy walking distance of both Cambridge rail station this building used to host a GP practice and although busy with a variety of therapists, it is very pleasant to visit with friendly reception, parking etc.
